Tana Travis

Prior to joining Griffith & Hughes, Tana worked for the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) for 32 years. Tana began her career with the TABC in 1989 as an enforcement agent and advanced all the way to the rank of Lieutenant. During her 27 years working in the TABC Enforcement Division, Tana gained experience conducting TABC operations, leading TABC investigations and supervising TABC enforcement officers. She provided education to businesses in the retail tier, wholesale tier and manufacturing tier on proper business practices to avoid violations of the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code, and interacted with local government officials and police departments to provide information and guidance related to the alcoholic beverage industry. Tana worked in the DFW, Austin and Houston regions and was the designated case manager for all TABC protests filed within those regions.

Tana spent the last 5 years of her career with the TABC as the Regional Licensing Supervisor for Region 2 - which encompasses the DFW and East Texas areas. During this time, she interacted with and provided education to local government officials responsible for certifying TABC applications on the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code and the TABC's processes. Tana and her licensing team assisted businesses owners, attorneys and licensing services with obtaining the proper liquor licenses for their business models. Tana's experience also includes the development and implementation of the TABC's new AIMS licensing system that launched September 2021. She developed an extensive working knowledge of the AIMS licensing system by assisting the licensing team she supervised along with Texas businesses owners with the transition from the TABC's old licensing process to the new AIMS system.

Tana is a subject matter expert on the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code and Rules and has vast knowledge of not only enforcement and licensing related issues, but also marketing practice and compliance related issues that businesses in the alcohol industry often face. Tana has taught many area police academies and TABC new agent academies throughout her career, holds a TCOLE Master Peace Officer License and is the President of the TABC Retired Agents Association.
